Ranson Named Big West Defensive Player of the Week

BIG WEST RELEASE

IRVINE, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton Redshirt Freshman Mia Ranson was named the Big West Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the second week of the season it was announced on Monday afternoon.  

The redshirt freshman made eight saves in two games this week against UC Irvine and Texas Tech.  The only goal she allowed was a penalty kick against UC Irvine.  Against UC Irvine, she made three saves and the Anteaters had 13 shot attempts.  Against Texas Tech she made 5 saves against the Red Raider's 12 shots.

She picked up the first clean sheet of her career in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Texas Tech. She is is currently tied for third in the conference with 17 saves.

Ranson was named the Big West Freshman Player of the Week last week in the first week of the season.  

The Titans are 1-1-2 to start the season and will head out on their first road trip of the season with a visit to Utah this week.   They take on the Utah Utes on Thursday and the Southern Utah Thunderbirds on Sunday.
