Hawkinson and Philippines Win the 2022 AFF Cup

Manila, Philippines - Kaya Hawkinson and the Philippines women's national team won their first first ever international trophy as they won the 2022 AFF (Asean Football Federation) Women's Championship.  

After qualifying for their first World Cup ever back in February by making it to the semi-finals in the 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup, the Philippines took it one step further by winning the AFF championship.

The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) is an organization within the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). It consists of the federations of Australia, Brunei, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

Hawkinson started three games in the group stage in wins over Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia.  She scored her first international goal against Singapore. 

The Philippines defeated Vietnam 4-0 in the semi-finals before defeating Thailand 3-0 in the championship match.

Hawkinson will return for her final season at Cal State Fullerton beginning on August 18th against BYU.
