Rodriguez Leads Titans to 1-0 Victory Over UCSB

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton women's soccer defeated UC Santa Barbara 1-0 Sunday afternoon at Harder Stadium.

"This was a great team effort today. I'm very proud of how our women bounced back after the disappointment on Thursday," Head Coach Demian Brown said. "We're looking forward to defending Titan Stadium in our next four matches.

After falling behind in shots early in the match the Titans (4-7, 1-1) quickly picked up the pace to get in the attacking third as they earned six corner kicks throughout the 90 minutes. While the Gauchos did outshoot Fullerton 12-6, the Titans had just one less shot on goal with four to UCSB's five.

The Titans dominated much of the possession in the second half, eventually leading to a perfect header by Karla Rodriguez for the go-ahead goal in the 73rd minute on a beautiful ball from Katelin Bebe. Rodriguez now has four goals this season while Bebe picked up her second assist of the year.

Deaira Jackson had another great game in goal, recording five saves to earn her fourth win of the season and second shutout.

Fullerton returns to Titan Stadium for a four-game homestand beginning Thursday against UC Irvine at 7:00 p.m. PT.
