WSOC Comes Back to Defeat LMU, 3-2

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton women's soccer gutted out a win over LMU on Friday night by a score of 3-2. The Titans trailed 1-0 and 2-1 but took the lead in the 83rd and held on to secure the win. Senior Callie Petrey-Juarez scored two goals and delivered the assist to Karla Rodriguez on the match-winning goal. Fullerton is now 3-6 on the year, winning each of its last three matches heading into Big West play next week.

LMU took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute by Skylar Robledo on its only shot of the first half. The Titans out-shot LMU 20 to 5 for the match but the Lions were very clinical in the shot attempts they did have. They hit the post once and kept Titans freshman goalkeeper DeAira Jackson on her toes.

The Titans came out in the second half and quickly equalized thanks to Petrey-Juarez. Kaytlin Brinkman and Haley Brown linked up well on the right wing before Brown whipped a cross into the box that Petrey-Juarez headed home for her third goal of the season. It is the second straight match she has scored.

The Lions then retook the lead at the 53:47 mark via a header by Sydney Schultz.

After a handball called on LMU, Petrey-Juarez scored her second of the match to level the score once again. She is now 2-for-2 from the penalty spot on the year and it was her fourth goal overall.

Rodriguez netted her third goal of the season via Petrey-Juarez's assist with a beautiful left-footed strike at the 83:16 mark.

Next week, the Titans begin Big West play on the road with matches at Cal Poly on Thursday at 7 p.m. PT and Sunday at UC Santa Barbara at 12 p.m.
