Lubbock, Texas - Cal State Fullerton women's soccer lost at Texas Tech on Thursday night by a score of 2-1. With 12 minutes left in the first half, the game was stopped for an hour due to lightning in the area. Freshman midfielder Karla Rodriguez scored the first goal of her collegiate career in the 62nd minute but the Titans could not get the equalizer.
The Red Raiders jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute via a counterattack off a set piece. The ball that was meant to drop into the 18-yard box hit the Red Raider wall and they were off to the races with a numbers advantage. Kirsten Davis carried the ball to the byline and then centered it for Sierra Castles to tap it in.
Texas Tech won a penalty at the 18:00 mark but Titans goalkeeper Noa Schumacher denied Macy Shultz to keep the deficit at one.
