FULLERTON, Calif.– Sarah Fajnor netted the game winning goal off a penalty kick in the 35th minute for Fullerton (6-2-2) during Friday's match against San Diego (1-8-0) at Titan Stadium.
Freshmen Samantha McKenna scored her first goal of her career off the ball from Connie Caliz in the 82nd minute of play. McKenna's shot hit the bottom of the crossbar and fell straight into goal.
Sarah Fajnor struck again in the 90th minute for her fifth goal of the season which tied her with teammate Atlanta Primus. Fajnor received the ball from Maribel Morales and booted it into the back of the net. Fajnor is now tied for second in the Big West Conference in offensive scoring.
"This is a great way for the women to bounce back from a game earlier in the week at Denver…" said head coach Demian Brown. "From the first whistle our women stepped into the match and controlled so many parts of the game, Fajnor's penalty kick was great, and I am extremely excited for the women."
The Titans out-corned their opponent 8-3. Fullerton also dominated offensively out-scoring San Diego 11-6.
Morgan Bertsch played all 90 minutes of Friday's match and recorded one save for the night.
Fullerton looks to keep the fire burning with a match Sunday 5:00 p.m. PT against Grand Canyon University at Titan Stadium.
