Rebecca Wilson Named NSCAA First Team All-American

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The honors just keep coming for Cal State Fullerton senior forward Rebecca Wilson. In addition to being nominated for the Soccer News Net College Boot Player of the Year award, being named a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist and to the NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) All-West Region First Team, Wilson just picked up her first-ever NSCAA First Team All-America nod. 

Wilson is one of 13 players named to the All-American First Team. She, along with the other honorees on the first, second and third teams, will be recognized at the NSCAA All-America Luncheon which will be held during the 2016 NSCAA Convention in Baltimore, Md., on Saturday, Jan. 16.

She is coming off of an extraordinary senior season in which she complied a team- and Big West Conference-leading 19 goals, 10 assists and 48 total points. Her nearly 20 goals ranked her third in the NCAA as did her points total and points per game average.

During the 2015 season, the Placentia, Calif., native set a school record with 10 game-winning goals to lead the nation. She finished the year nationally ranked in the top 50 in nine different categories and was named Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Year for the second time in a row. She also garnered her second-straight Big West Conference First Team nod to go along with all of her other accolades.

Wilson was a key component to the No. 25 Cal State Fullerton squad that finished 16-3-2 overall as she helped the Titans to a share of the their third-straight Big West Conference regular-season title as well as leading Fullerton to its third consecutive conference tournament championship.

With Wilson setting the tone for the Titans, Cal State Fullerton went on to make its third NCAA Tournament appearance in as many years.

Wilson concluded her collegiate career with a total of 34 goals to rank third in the Cal State Fullerton record book. She also etched her name into the annals with a record-setting 19 assists and 123 shots on goal.
