KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Cal State Fullerton's Rebecca Wilson is one out of 30 NCAA Division I soccer players named a semifinalist for the 2015 MAC Hermann Trophy, one of the most coveted awards in college soccer.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual intercollegiate award administered by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, and presented annually at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis. This year's trophy presentation and banquet will take place Friday, Jan. 8.
Wilson, who played forward for the Titans, racked up a team- and Big West Conference-leading 19 goals and 10 assists for 48 total points as a senior. Her 19 goals ranked third in the nation as did her total points and points per game.
She set a Cal State Fullerton school record with 10 game-winning goals in a single season which also led the nation. The product out of Placentia, Calif., concluded her senior year nationally ranked in the top 50 in nine categories and was named Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Year, marking the second time in her career she captured that honor. Wilson also garnered her second straight Big West Conference First Team nod for her exceptional senior year.
In 2015, Wilson helped Cal State Fullerton to a No. 25 ranking as it finished 16-3-2 overall. Wilson was an integral part of the squad that helped the Titans claim a share of the Big West Conference regular season title before going on to capture their third straight conference tournament championship.
With Wilson on the field, the Titans went on to make their third NCAA Tournament appearance in as many years, where Fullerton eventually dropped a double overtime decision to nationally-ranked USC in Los Angeles, Calif., on penalty kicks.
Wilson finished her Cal State Fullerton career with 34 goals to rank third in the school record book. Additionally, her 19 career assists top the CSF annals, as do her 123 shots on goal.
