Stuart Earns Big West Defensive Player of the Week Honors

IRVINE, Calif. – After recording her sixth shutout of the season over the weekend, Cal State Fullerton redshirt junior goalkeeper Jennifer Stuart was named the Big West Conference Defensive Player of the Week. The announcement came from the league office on Monday afternoon.

Stuart helped the Titans remain at the top of the Big West standings as she turned in a stout defensive performance in which she made six saves, her second-highest output this season, while tallying her 11th victory of the year as CSUF collected a 1-0 win over Cal State Northridge Sunday night.

The Cave Creek, Ariz., native has turned in a solid junior season as she is 11-0-0 on the year while boasting a 0.66 goals against average with 45 saves. In her career, Stuart ranks in the top five of the Titan single-season records in both shutouts and wins.

Stuart's efforts have earned the Titans seven shutout victories this year. As a team, Cal State Fullerton is riding a five-game winning streak. In those five matches, Stuart has logged four shutouts and allowed just one goal.

Her efforts have helped the Titans post a 5-1 Big West Conference record and a 13-2-1 overall mark.

Stuart earned the honors along with Big West Offensive Player of the Week Mallory Hromatko, a freshman midfielder/forward at UC Santa Barbara.
