PULLMAN, Wash. –Kourtney Guetlein's golden goal header in the 103rd minute ended Cal State Fullerton's unbeaten streak while keeping Washington State's winning streak alive as the Cougars came from behind to defeat the Titans, 2-1, at Lower Soccer Field on Sunday afternoon.

Fullerton (6-1-1), playing its third double overtime match in its last four games and its second of the weekend had a 1-0 lead at halftime, and held on to that advantage until the 81st minute when WSU's  Kaitlyn Johnson fired a shot to the far post that beat Fullerton goalkeeper Morgan Bertsch to even the game.

In the second period of overtime, the Cougars, now undefeated at 6-0-0, were awarded a free kick in the 103rd minute after Cal State Fullerton was whistled for a hand ball. Kailiana Johnson then delivered the free kick that set up Guetlein's golden goal game winner.

In the 58th minute, Fullerton was awarded another penalty kick, but the attempt by Rebecca Wilson – that could have given the Titans a 2-0 lead – was saved by Washington State goalkeeper Ella Dederick.

In addition, WSU played most of the second half without head coach Todd Shulenberger after he was issued a red card in the 56th minute of the match.

The Titans held a slight 21-19 advantage in shots, but failed to fire an attempt in overtime. WSU held a 5-2 edge on corner kicks and the Titans were whistled for 10 fouls while the Cougars were charged for eight.
