NSCAA All-West Region Team

FULLERTON, Calif. – Morgan Batcheller, Christina Burkenroad and Rebecca Wilson were named to the 2014 NSCAA Women's Division I All-West Region Second Team as presented by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Continental Tire, it was announced on Wednesday.

The West Region is comprised of schools from the Big West, West Coast and Western Athletic conferences.

This marks the second-straight year the Titans have had three players earn all-region honors, matching a program best.

For Batcheller, this is the junior defender's second honor as she was named to the NSCAA All-West Region Third Team following the 2013 season.  She joins Karen Bardsley as the only other Titan to receive All-West Region honors on two occasions.

In 2014, Batcheller was a starting central defender for the Titans (10-8-4), organizing a defense that allowed only 24 goals, a 1.02 goals against average, as Fullerton captured both the 2014 Big West regular season championship and tournament title. Fullerton's second consecutive Big West Tournament championship garnered the Titans back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances (2013 & 2014), including the program's sixth overall.

In Big West play, Fullerton was even more impressive as the Titans finished conference action unbeaten with a record of 6-0-2. The only other Titan team to remain undefeated in league play was the 1996 squad (6-0-1).

In eight conference games, Cal State Fullerton allowed only five goals (0.59 gaa), matching Long Beach State for the league lead.

The Titans totaled seven shutouts on the season as Batcheller finished her junior campaign with a goal and two assists. The Carlsbad, Calif., native was also named to the Big West Conference First Team.

Prior to Fullerton's 5-2 loss at No. 3 Stanford in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Nov. 14, the Titans had manufactured a 10-match unbeaten streak, just one shy of the program record.

Wilson, a junior forward, was named the 2014 Big West Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year.

The Placentia, Calif., native led Cal State Fullerton with 10 goals and three assists, scoring nine goals and adding two assists in the Titans' last 14 games. Wilson's 10 goals tie for sixth in CSF single-season history, and she is also the last Titan to accomplish the feat since Kandace Wilson in 2004.

Wilson's 10 goals tied for second in the Big West this season and her 23 points tied for third. She scored three game winners and was a perfect 2-for-2 in penalty kick attempts.

Wilson was twice named Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Week, first on Oct. 6 after scoring all three goals Fullerton in a 2-1 come-from-behind victory at Hawai'i as well as the game-tying goal in a 1-1 draw at UC Davis.

She once again received the honor on Oct. 26 after scoring two goals and assisting on a third as the Titans defeated UC Irvine, 3-1, and UC Riverside, 1-0, to clinch a spot in the Big West Tournament.

Burkenroad, also a Big West Conference First Team selection, completed her season with six goals and a team-high four assists.

Burkenroad was named the 2014 Big West Tournament Most Valuable Player, becoming the fifth Titan in the history of the Cal State Fullerton program to win the honor. The San Diego, Calif., native scored both game-winning goals for the Titans in the Big West Tournament in a 1-0 victory over CSUN in the semifinal and a 2-1 victory over Long Beach State in the title tilt.

Burkenroad finished the season recording at least a point in five consecutive games totaling 11 points on five goals and one assist. She is the ninth player in program history record a streak of at least five consecutive games with a point.

On Nov. 3, Burkenroad captured Big West Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors for her role in Cal State Fullerton's clinching of its seventh conference regular season title.

She scored her second and third goals of the season in a 4-2 win at UC Santa Barbara on Oct. 30, and the midfielder was responsible for the assist that led to Adriana Gjonovich's game-winning goal in a winner-take-all battle for the Big West championship against Cal Poly on Nov. 2.  Burkenroad dribbled her way to open space on the endline and directed her cross through the box to a waiting Gjonovich, whose goal gave the Titans the 1-0 victory and their seventh Big West regular season championship.

A total of 13 Big West players were honored on the 2014 NSCAA Women's Division I All-West Region.   Six Big West schools appeared on the list including representatives from regular season and Big West Tournament champion, Cal State Fullerton, in addition to Long Beach State, UC Riverside, Cal Poly, UC Irvine and Hawai'i.
