KICK OFF: The push for seeding for the 2012 Big West Conference tournament enters the stretch run, as the Cal State Fullerton women's soccer team (7-7 overall, 4-1 in the Big West) closes out its home schedule this weekend at Titan Stadium. The Titans open on Friday night (Oct. 19) at 7 p.m., welcoming UC Santa Barbara to Orange County, before league-leading Cal Poly checks in for a Sunday matinee (Oct. 21) at 1 p.m. when Fullerton's seven-member senior class will be honored with a ceremony prior to kickoff.

IN THE POLLS: Neither Cal State Fullerton nor its opponents are ranked in the top 25 entering this weekend's contests.

"CAN YOU SEE ME NOW?": For the fifth year, institutions will air select matches on BigWest.TV, including all Cal State Fullerton and UC Santa Barbara contests.  For the 2012 season, all BigWest.TV events will air free of charge.  Head to http://www.bigwest.org/thisweek for weekly event schedules.

BigWest.TV brings together live and on-demand video from each of the Big West's ten member institutions. Now in its eighth year, BigWest.TV covers Big West sports, press conferences, interviews and features, including every home and conference contest in women's volleyball as well as men's and women's basketball.  Also covered are select contests in men's and women's soccer, baseball, softball and Big West Conference Championships.

I NEED STATS, STAT!: Live stats will be available for both contests from Titan Stadium. Follow the links on the women's soccer schedule page at FullertonTitans.com.

UC SANTA BARBARA BRIEFLY: The Gauchos enter the weekend with a 4-10-2 overall record and a 1-4-1 mark in Big West Conference play, having lost three of their last four and winning just once in their last eight contests (1-6-1)... last weekend, UCSB posted a 1-0 win over Hawaii and a 1-0 loss at Cal State Northridge to earn a split... the Gauchos are just 1-5 away from home this season, posting their only road win by a 1-0 score at Bakersfield on Sept. 10... freshman Sara Feder leads the team with four goals and nine points, standing as one of only eight Gauchos to find the back of the net this season... keeper Makenna Henry has started all 16 matches in net, playing all but 26 minutes this season, posting a 1.53 goals against average and 76 saves to go with three shutouts.

HEAD-TO-HEAD WITH THE GAUCHOS: Cal State Fullerton leads the all-time series with UC Santa Barbara, 11-8-1, winning last year's meeting by a 2-1 score in overtime to snap a brief two-match losing streak... UCSB has won six of the last 10 meetings after Fullerton went 7-2-1 against the Gauchos in the first nine... the Titans lead the series, 9-7, since both programs have been members of the Big West... Fullerton is 5-5 against UCSB at home, having lost three of the last four to Santa Barbara at Titan Stadium... the Titans' last win at home in the series was a 2-0 shutout on Oct. 5, 2008.

CAL POLY BRIEFLY: The Mustangs enter the week with an 8-5-2 overall record and an unbeaten 5-0-1 record in Big West Conference play, defeating Hawaii by a 5-2 score in their last outing after suffering the only blemish on their conference record with a 2-2 draw at Cal State Northridge two days earlier... a battle-tested crew has been to overtime five times this season, posting a 2-1-2 record in such matches... Cal Poly is 4-2-1 away from home this year and will meet UC Riverside on Friday before facing the Titans... the Mustangs' offense has been high-powered this season, scoring three-or-more goals five times, and leads the Big West with 31 goals in 2012... Elise Krieghoff leads the Big West with 10 goals and is second in the conference with 20 points on the year... Cici Kobinski is tied for second in the league with seven assists and is one of three players with double-digit points in 2012... keeper Alyssa Giannetti has played all but 16 minutes in net this season, posting a 1.74 goals against average and 98 saves to go with a pair of shutouts.

HEAD-TO-HEAD WITH THE MUSTANGS: Cal Poly leads the all-time series with Cal State Fullerton, 12-6-4, having won three of the last four and posting a 5-3-2 record over the last 10... the Mustangs outlasted the Titans for a, 2-1, double-overtime victory in San Luis Obispo last season... six of the last eight matches between the two programs have been decided by a single goal with a pair of scoreless draws thrown in there for good measure... Fullerton is 3-4-3 against Cal Poly at home, posting a 2-1-2 mark over the last five such games.

"O CAPTAIN! MY CAPTAIN!": Seniors Stacey Fox, Jennifer Smith, and JeAnne Mazeau, along with sophomore Chelsey Patterson, have been selected as captains for 2012.

TITANS FETE THE SENIORS: Cal State Fullerton is 7-11-1 all-time in "Senior Day" contests, having lost four of its last six, but rebounding with a 4-1 win over UC Davis to close out 2011... Sunday will mark the first time that the Titans will face Cal Poly in their "Senior Day" match after going 0-2 against the Mustangs' Central Coast neighbors, UC Santa Barbara... Fullerton has gone to overtime three times (all double-overtime contests) on "Senior Day," going 1-1-1 in those contest -- the last in 2001 when the Titans beat UC Irvine, 2-1... a win on Sunday will mark the first back-to-back wins on "Senior Day" since Fullerton won three-straight from 2003-05.

THIS IS GETTING REDUNDANT: Each of Fullerton's last three wins have come by a 1-0 score and the fifth overall with that result this season. The Titans are unbeaten this year in 1-0 matches, posting a perfect 5-0 record, and last weekend's 1-0 win over UC Riverside marked the 12th one-goal match in 14 contests this season.

CORNERING THE MARKET: Fullerton's 11 corner kicks (all in the first half) last weekend against UC Riverside were just one shy of the team's season high (12 at Cal State Northridge on Oct. 5) and two short of the school single-match record of 13 that has been reached on three occassions (the last coming against Pacific on Nov. 4, 2005). The Titans enter the weekend with a huge lead in the category overall in the Big West, accumulating 95 corners to pace the league (UC Irvine is second with 68).

WELL, LOOK WHO'S STREAKING: Cal State Fullerton's 1-0 win over UC Riverside marked the team's fourth-consecutive victory -- the longest winning streak for the Titans since they won four-straight from Sept. 11-22 last season as part of a longer five-match unbeaten streak (they tied UNLV, 1-1, after the four-straight wins). A fifth-straight victory on Friday would be Fullerton's best winning run since Head Coach Demian Brown's first year at the helm in 2007 when the Titans posted five consecutive wins from Oct. 14-Nov. 1 of that season.

SHUT(OUT) THE FRONT DOOR!: As the Titans head into the home stretch, Cal State Fullerton has yet to be shutout with four matches remaining in the regular season, extending a streak that has lasted a total of 17 matches overall dating back to a 1-0 loss to Cal State Northridge on Oct. 20, 2011. However, in the "it only takes one" department, the Titans are still waiting for the offensive dam to burst as they have scored multiple goals in a match just three times in 2012, scoring twice against USC on Aug. 17 and No. 21 Long Beach State on Sept. 30, while netting a season-high three goals against Army on Sept. 14.

SHUT(OUT) THE BACK DOOR, TOO!: Junior goalkeeper Lindsey Maricic has not allowed a goal since the 22nd minute of a 2-1 win over Long Beach State on Sept. 30 at Titan Stadium -- a shutout streak of 358:36 heading into the weekend. The stretch is the fifth-longest for a Titan squad in the history of the program (and the longest since 2009) and the second-longest for a Fullerton keeper all-time, standing behind only Karen Bardsley's streak of 521:35 from Oct. 9-Nov. 6, 2005.

MARICIC LOVES CLEAN SHEETS: With her fifth shutout of the season against UC Riverside last weekend, Maricic logged the 11th clean sheet of her career  -- good for third place behind only Laura Janke (13 from 2000-03) and career leader Karen Bardsley (26 from 2002-06) on the all-time list.

SHE'S A KEEPER: Since her return to the cage against top-ranked Florida State on Sept. 1, junior goalkeeper Lindsey Maricic has been solid between the pipes for the Titans, posting a 0.87 goals against average (second in the Big West Conference) and five shutouts (second in the league) to go with 33 saves and a .805 save percentage (third in the league). With her four saves on Sept. 16 against Texas Tech, Maricic became only the sixth Titan keeper to notch 100 career saves (and currently ranks fifth on the all-time list with 120) and she earned her 16th career victory on Sunday against UC Riverside, keeping her in sole possession of fourth on the school's all-time list (Suzy Strazzulla and Laura Janke are tied for second with 24 wins).

FOX-Y LADY: Senior Stacey Fox's game-winner last weekend against UC Riverside is one of only 17 players in the history of the program to reach double digits in goals scored, and is rapidly moving up the Titans' all-time scoring charts. Fox's 41 career points rank 10th on the school's all-time list (just one point back of Christina Murillo's 42 points for ninth) while her 18 goals give her sole possession of seventh place -- just one back of Murillo's 19 career strikes from 2007-10.

MISSING IT BY *THIS* MUCH: It is really becoming a heartbreaking, yet consistent, story for the Titans in 2012 as six of their seven losses have been decided by a single goal save a, 3-1, defeat to UC Irvine on Sept. 28. Also, in an odd turn of events, five of Fullerton's seven defeats have come via a 2-1 score -- including a pair in overtime in back-to-back contests at Loyola Marymount (Aug. 19) and Michigan (Aug. 24).

FAN APPRECIATION: The women's soccer team's doubleheaders with the Titans' men's team brought out the fans last weekend as Fullerton drew better than 1,000 for the third time at home this season (and the fourth overall when you count the 1,123 fans in attendance at No. 1 Florida State on Sept. 7). Friday night's attendance of 1,182 against UC Irvine ranks fifth on the all-time list while the 1,002 fans for Sunday night's clash with No. 21 Long Beach State ranks ninth. The Titans also drew 1,063 fans for their season opener on Aug. 17 against USC, a total that ranks eighth.
