LAS VEGAS -- Cal State Fullerton junior Janali West scored in the 82nd minute Sunday night, helping the visiting Titans forge a 1-1 draw with host UNLV in an exhibition contest at Peter Johann Memorial Field in Las Vegas.
With temps hovering around 108 degrees at kick off, West slotted home a cross from fellow junior Nikki McCants with eight minutes to play in regulation to draw Fullerton even after the Rebels had taken the lead in the 65th minute on a goal by Jennifer Wolfe. No overtime periods were played.
The Titans had a solid chance to get on the board first in the opening half as redshirt senior Stacey Fox had UNLV's goalkeeper beat 1-v-1, but was denied by the post off a pass by West.
The Titans put 10 of their 17 shots on frame for the match, outshooting UNLV, 17-5, on the night. Fullerton also had a 5-2 advantage in corners.
Fullerton officially opens the 2012 season on Friday night (Aug. 17) at 7 p.m. as the Titans play host to Southern California rival USC at Titan Stadium.
