Titans Still Seventh

San Luis Obispo, Calif. - UC Davis built upon its early lead during the second round Monday of the Big West Conference Women's Golf Championships at San Luis Obispo Country Club.

The Aggies stretched an 8-stroke lead after one round to a 14-stroke advantage over runnerup Long Beach State going into today's third and final round. The Aggies stand at 597, 21 over par, while the 49ers are at 611.

Cal State Fullerton remained in seventh place despite improving by 13 strokes from its first round. Kristen Aiu and Alicia Chavez each shot 80 to pace the Titans to a 325 score on Monday for a total of 663, 25 shots back of Cal State Northridge and UC Riverside, who are in a fifth-place tie at 638. UCI is in third at 612 and Cal Poly is fourth at 633.

In the race for the individual title, Davis' Chelsea Stetzmiller carded the low round of Monday with an even-par 72 for a two-day score of three-over 147. That's one stroke better than Reina Roger of Long Beach State and Davis' Amy Simanton.
