Irvine, Calif. - Geoff Gonzalez won the men's individual title to lead Cal Poly SLO to the team championship and Long Beach State captured the women's crown of the inaugural Folino Invitational Golf Tournament Tuesday at Oak Creek Golf Club.

Gonzalez was the only player to break par on a rainy and blustery 54 holes with a one-under total of 212 (72-70-70). Portland State's Lauren Taylor won the women's individual trophy with an even par 144 over 36 holes.

Host Fullerton placed third in the men's competition at 875, trailing only Cal Poly (867) and UC Irvine (870).

The Titan women scored 638 (+62)to place fifth led by Kristen Aiu and Taylor Fowler, who tied for 11th with scores of 154. Long Beach's team total was 606 followed by UC Irvine at 610 and Portland State at 611. Long Beach overcame a three-shot deficit in the final round to beat Big West Conference rival and runner-up UC Irvine.

UC Riverside's Christy Fogerty scored a hole-in-one on the par 3, 154-yard 12th hole.

Taylor took home top honors after shooting a second-round 74, but led UC Irvine's Patty Chawalitmetha and Long Beach State's Simone Hoey by four shots.

Fullerton's Deidre Crabtree finished tied for 34th at 22-over and was followed by Neomi Hunt in 38th at 24-over, 168, and Kathryn New in 40th at 25-over, 169. Kaori Suda, competing as an individual, finished in a tie for 30th at 20-over, 164.

The Titans next compete at the Anteater Invitational on March 27 in at Dove Canyon Country Club.
