Knyal Donates to Golf

March 13, 2012

Fullerton, Calif. - Former Cal State Fullerton golfer Wayne "Buz" Knyal and his wife, Carol, have contributed the lead gift of \$50,000 to support the Titans' new on-campus men's and women's golf practice facility.

In exchange for the lead gift, the facility, completed in the fall behind the centerfield fence of softball's Anderson Family Field, will be known as the "Buz and Carol Knyal Practice Facility, MVP 1967 & 1968."

"This is one more large step in the rebirth of our men's and women's golf programs," said CSF Athletics Director Brian Quinn. "We are grateful to Buz and Carol for their generous support. I know Buz is proud of his Titan golf heritage and proud of the progress we have made in the programs in the three years since their resumption."

The facility consists of an artificial, undulated putting surface with eight holes surrounded by natural grass aprons for chipping practice. There also is a sand bunker so men and women golfers no longer need to commute to various golf courses in the area to work on their short games.

Both the men's and women's programs have logged their inaugural tournament championships in this season. Both won titles at the Firestone Grill Invitational in Nipomo in October and the women today added the Lexus Classic in Fresno to their trophy case.
