Kathryn New shot the best third round and ended up with a share of the best tournament score for Cal State Fullerton as the Titans settled for 13th place Tuesday after the final 18 holes of the Lexus Classic Women's Golf Tournament hosted by Fresno State at Copper River Country Club.

New shot a closing 5-over-par 77 to finish with a 243 (27 over) and tie Deidre Crabtree for team honors and 55th place in the tourney. Finishing a stroke apart were teammates Neomi Hunt at 244, Kristen Aiu at 245 and Taylor Fowler at 246 for a team score of 967. UC Davis defended its team title with a score of 893 (29 over par). Individual champion was Katrina Hegge of USF with an even par 216. A total of 16 teams competed.

Fullerton next competes in the inaugural Folino Invitational, hosted by the Titans at Oak Creek Golf Club in Irvine on March 21-22. The event begins on March 20 with a "pro-am" event featuring the male and female collegiate competitors in practice rounds with 22 foursomes of donors.
