Former Cal State Fullerton women’s golf student-athlete Kathryn Hosch was named head coach prior to the 2017-18 season. Hosch helped lead the team to a record setting score at the Red Rocks Invitational in 2019, shooting a program best 858 in a 54-hole tournament. Six Titans have All-Big West accolades under Hosch while Brittany Shin was named Big West Golfer of the Year in 2021.

A two-year letter winner for the Titans after transferring from Mt. San Jacinto College, Hosch graduated in 2012 with a degree in kinesiology and earned her masters degree in kinesiology from Cal State Fullerton in 2014.

As interim head coach during the 2017-18 season, the team placed second at the Battle at Old Works tournament and finished third at the New Mexico State Aggie Invitational. The Titans had seven top-10 individual finishes last year and an athlete named to the Big West Honorable Mention Team. Fullerton was not only good on the field under Hosch but also in the classroom. Two student-athletes were WGCA All-American Scholar Recipients while five were named to the Big West Commissioner Honor Roll.

PLAYING CAREER

CSF '11-12: Hosch appeared in five tournaments for the Titans as a senior... posted a season-best eighth-place finish at the Firestone Grill Invitational on Oct. 2-3, helping the Titans to the tournament title as all five golfers in the lineup placed in the top 15... also had a top-10 finish at the Rose City Collegiate on Sept. 26-27 competing as an individual, including a season-best 73 in the opening round.

CSF '10-11: Kathryn Hosch played in all but one event for the Titans in 2010-11, her first year at the Div. I level... her best tourney finish was a tie for 19th at the Firestone Grill Invitational in Nipomo in October with a 28-over-par 241... her best round was a 77 -- at the Cougar Cup in September and at the Lexus Classic in Fresno in March.

MT. SAN JACINTO COLLEGE: Kathryn finished in fourth place at the state championships as a sophomore at Mt. San Jacinto Community College in 2010 by winning a playoff with an eagle... Named CCCAA All-American her sophomore year... All-Southern California First Team... Selected as the school's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year... As a freshman competed with the men's team and was the third best player... Qualified for the conference championships as an individual... Gained the President's Honor Roll.

HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year varsity letter winner at Hemet High School... Four-time team MVP... Captain as a junior and senior... Three-time individual CIF qualifier...Advanced to finals as a junior and senior... Made the CIF all-state academic team three times... Team won the Sunbelt League championships in 2004 and gained the CIF playoffs in 2007 under Coach Doug Oldham... Graduated with honors with a 3.9 grade point average and had a 4.0 for one full year... Also was a four-year letter winner in track and field... Four-time CIF qualifier... Team won two Sunbelt League titles... She holds part of the school 4x100 record... Inducted into the Hemet HS Hall of Fame.

PERSONAL: Born on Sept. 12, 1990, in Hemet, California... Father is Bill New... Has an older brother, Matt, who also played on the Mt. San Jacinto golf team... Worked in the summer with "Grandfathers for Golf," teaching youngsters how to play... Enjoys water skiing, snow skiing, bicycling, dancing and film editing... Credits her father and uncle for most influence on her golf career: "My father taught me most of my golfing skills as a child and my uncle, Dave, who is a teaching pro, helped refine my swing."
