Saksa Takes First Place at Jackrabbit Intercollegiate

BROOKINGS, S.D. – Cal State Fullerton's Elina Saksa took first place at the Jackrabbit Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon with a score of 3-over par 219. 

After transferring from UNLV, Saksa earns her first tournament title as a Titan and second in her career. This is the first time in her career Saksa has been the sole winner of a tournament. Saksa shot a 69 in round, tying her career-best single round score. She finished the tournament with a 75 in round two and three. 

As a team, the Titans finished in third place after shooting 42-over par 906. Haruka Koda finished the tournament tied for fifth place at 9-over par 225. Koda improved each round, shooting a 76 in round one, 75 in round two and a 74 in the third and final round. 

Linley Ooi placed tied for 20th, shooting 16-over par 232. Ooi finished day one shooting a 78 before coming back on day two to shoot a 79 and 75. In her first collegiate tournament, Kayla Sam finished in 29th with a score of 19-over par 235 (81-79-75). Lisa Djerf wrapped up the tournament tied for 52nd at 28-over par 244 (76-86-82). 

Fullerton has a week off before returning to action Monday, Sept. 27 when it heads to Colorado for the Golfweek Conference Challenge at the Red Sky Ranch & Golf Club.
