FULLERTON, Calif. – Freshman Brittany Shin earned a share of the Big West Women's Golfer of the Month award with Hawai'i's Tyra Tonkham after claiming her first individual tournament victory.

Shin took first place at UNF Collegiate in Jacksonville, Fla. with a score of 1-over par 217. The Cape Coral, Fla. native tied Delaware's Ariane Klotz for first on the leaderboard. However, Shin notched the title on a scorecard playoff which was determined by who had the better score over the last nine holes of the tournament.

Shin became the first Titan since Martina Edberg in 2017 to take individual medalist honors at a tournament. The freshman shot rounds of 70 and 75 to enter the final round in fourth place. However, her even par 72 allowed her to jump three spots.
