JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Freshman Brittany Shin secured her first collegiate tournament victory Tuesday at the UNF Collegiate after shooting a 1-over par 217.
Shin tied Delaware's Ariane Klotz but took first place on a scorecard playoff which was determined by who had the better score over the last nine rounds of the tournament. Shin was in fourth place heading into the final round but shot an impressive 72 to claim the title. Shin is the first Titan to win a tournament individually since Martina Edberg won the Big West Tournament in 2017.
As a team, the Titans placed ninth with a score of 55-over par 919. Fullerton finished off the tournament on a good note, shooting a 298, the second lowest score in the final round.
Nodoka Honda placed tied for 32nd with a score of 15-over par 231. Honda shot a 75 in round one and a 78 in rounds two and three. Texie Petchel was four strokes back with a 19-over par 235 to finish tied for 44th.
Sara Camarena finished the tournament with an overall score of 20-over par 236 to leave her tied for 48th. Camarena and Petchel both finished the tournament strong with a 2-over par 74. Elsa Lundquist placed tied for 79th with a score of 35-over par 251.
