IRVINE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton finished the Big West Championship in seventh place Tuesday at the Strawberry Farms Golf Club with a score of 64-over par 916.
The Titans greatly improved on their second round score with a 302 in the third round. However, it wasn't enough to move up the leaderboard as the fell from sixth place to seventh on day three. Fullerton started the tournament strong, ending day one in third place but were unable to keep the consistency throughout all three rounds.
Long Beach State held onto first place throughout the entire tournament, finish with a score of 27-over par 879. UC Davis finished in second place at 37-over par. Jennifer Yu of Long Beach took first place individually at even par 213.
Britney Sok had an up and down tournament but finished on a high note with her best score of all three days of even at par 71 to place tied for 12th place with an overall score of 12-over par 225. Sok was tied for 21st for after shooting an 81 in round two before her impressive performance in the final round.
Elsa Lundquist and Courtney Sharkey both placed tied for 24th place with a score of 18-over par 231. Lundquist improved four strokes from her second round performance with a 77 on day three. Sharkey shot a 75 in the first round before shooting a 78 in both rounds two and three.
Junior Pauline Welker placed 31st after shooting a 21-over par 234. Welker was tied for 31st after shooting an 80 in round two and improved on her score with a 76 in round three, however, it wasn't enough to move up the standings. Lou Daniella Uy finished in 38th place at 30-over par 243 after shooting a 85, 76 and 82.
After the tournament the conference held its awards ceremony where Lundquist received All-Big West Honorable Mention. With the 2017-18 season behind them, the Titans now look to next season with a promising lineup with five of the seven student-athletes returning.
