YORBA LINDA, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton sits third after the first two rounds of The Gold Rush hosted by Long Beach State at Yorba Linda Country Club in Yorba Linda, Calif.
The Titans shot a collective 31-over 607 through two rounds, 15 shots behind day-one leader Gonzaga and two behind second-place and host Long Beach State. The Titans sat in second place after shooting a 309 in the first round, five shots back of Gonzaga but fell to third after putting up a 308 in round two.
Tisha Alyn Abrea paced the Titans, shooting a 3-over 147 on day one, placing her in a tie for third place. Abrea shot a 74 in round one and then followed with a 73 in the second round. She sits seven shots behind day one leader Alice Kim of Gonzaga and four shots behind second-place Ciera Min, also of Gonzaga.
Freshman Martina Edberg finished the first day with a 5-over 149 to put her in a tie for fifth place. Edberg shot and even-par 72 in the opening round to put her near the leaders but fell back after putting up a 77 in round two.
Makayla Mier is the third Titans player in the top-20 after the first day after she shot a 9-over 153. Mier posted a 4-over 76 in the opening round and followed that up with a 5-over 77 in the last round of the day.
Dakota Brown went into the clubhouse tied for 28th out of 60 golfers after shooting a 14-over 158. Brown was at 5-over after the first round as she posted a 77 and then followed that with a 9-over 81 in the second round.
Nadine Rivera competed in her second straight tournament for the Titans and rounded out the team's scoring with a 22-over 166. She is tied for 53rd after day one, posting a 10-over 82 in the first round followed by a 12-over 84 in the final round of the day.
The Titans will return for the final round of The Gold Rush on Tuesday as the teams will tee off with a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m.
