LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Junior Tisha Alyn Abrea and freshman Martina Edberg each shot final round scores of 69 to finish tied for sixth on Wednesday and help the Cal State Fullerton women's golf team rebound to finish third overall on a record-setting day at the 14th annual Price's "GIve 'Em Five" Intercollegiate hosted by New Mexico State in Las Cruces, N.M.

The Titans, who began the day in seventh place, shot the lowest round of the day -- a school single-round record 287 -- to help the team finish with a 17-over-par 881 and end the event in third place. The final team total is 11 shots better than the previous 54-hole school record of 892 set last season at the Washington State Cougar Cup on Sept. 24-25.

All three of Fulleton's rounds this week rank among the best in school history as Wednesday's scores followed up a first-round 293 (tied for third all-time) on Monday and a 301 on Tuesday (15th all-time).

Portland State, in second place after each of the first two rounds, rallied to win the tournament, finishing seven shots better than second-place UC Irvine to win by five strokes. The Vikings' A Ram Choi took home the individual title at 8-under (208).

Abrea, who became the first Titan to break 70 with a school-record 69 in Monday's opening round, matched the mark on Wednesday and was joined in the record books by Edberg, who had five birdies and an eagle in the final round to stand as low as 7-under at one point before double bogeys on five and six put her at 3-under for the day.

Both finished at even par for the tournament, with a record-tying 216 over 54 holes, matching the mark set by teammate Seri Lee at the Cougar Cup last season. For Abrea, the 69 on Wednesday was her sixth career round at par or better -- tying her with Taylor Fowler for the most since the sport returned to campus in 2009-10 -- while Edberg shot her third career round at par or better to rank fourth on the list.

Lee finished with a 1-over-par 73 for the day to jump 14 spots into a tie for 27th for the tournament at 9-over-par (225) and was joined there by teammate Makayla Mier, who shot a final round 77. Junior Kate Cho shot a career-low 76 on Wednesday to finish in 66th at 21-over (237).

Sophomore Dakota Brown, competing as an individual, finished in a tie for 59th at 18-over (234).

The Titans have a quick turnaround, returning home from New Mexico only to head back into action this weekend at the Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, Calif., on Oct. 12-13.

NOTES: Of the 15 rounds carded by Fullerton's lineup this weekend, seven of those were at par or better… the Titans posted their second-consecutive top-five finish this season… Abrea and Edberg have each carded three rounds at par or better this season -- tied for the second-most in a season since the sport was reinstated in 2009-10… Abrea's sixth-place finish was the 16th of her career in the top 20 -- tying Taylor Fowler for the most since 2009-10… Abrea has finished in the top 10 in each of the Titans' three tournaments thus far this season and in fourth-straight events dating back to last season's Big West Conference Championships...
