FULLERTON, Calif. --

THIS WEEK: The Cal State Fullerton women's golf team returns to the site of its only victory from the 2012-13 season this week, traveling north to Aurora, Ore., as one of 15 teams competing in the fourth-annual Rose City Collegiate Tournament hosted by Portland State.

THE COURSE: This week's event will be held at the 6,080-yard, par-72 Langdon Farms Golf Club with play beginning with a 36-hole shotgun start on Monday morning (Sept. 30) at 8 a.m. and concluding with the final 18 holes on Tuesday (Oct. 1). Tee times for the final round will begin at 8 a.m. off holes 1 and 10.

THE FIELD: In addition to the Titans and host Vikings, the tournament field includes Oregon State, Boise State, Eastern Washington, Northern Colorado, Weber State, Sacramento State, Montana, UC Irvine, San Francisco, Cal Poly, Gonzaga, Washington State, Seattle, and six individual competitors.

IN THE POLLS: This week's event features six teams ranked in the top 100 as of Sept. 25: Washington State (#44), San Francisco (#58), Gonzaga (#64), Oregon State (#67), Boise State (#71), and Cal State Fullerton (#74).

WATCH IT LIVE: Not this week. Because of limitations at the course, there will be no live scoring. Results following each day's play will be posted on FullertonTitans.com and Portland State's athletics website, GoViks.com, when available at the conclusion of day.

SMELLING LIKE A ROSE: This week will mark the third-consecutive season that the Titans will compete at this event after posting top-five finishes in each of the first two appearances. Fullerton was fifth at the 2011 event, finishing 32 shots off the pace of team champion Long Beach State, and won the event in 2012, rallying from 15 shots back for a four-shot win over Oregon State. Four Titans finished in the top 20 overall at last year's tournament, led by Tisha Alyn Abrea's tie for sixth. It was the third tournament title for Cal State Fullerton's women's golf program since it was reinstated in 2009-10.

A LOOK BACK AT THE WEEK THAT WAS: Even if it was two weeks ago. Cal State Fullerton opened its 2013-14 season with an eighth-place finish at the Minnesota Invitational in Minneapolis on Sept. 16-17, rebounding from 10th place after the first 18 holes and emerging as the top Big West team in the event, edging out Long Beach State by a stroke and UC Irvine, which finished 11th. Junior Tisha Alyn Abrea led the charge by finishing in a tie for eighth with an 11-over-par 227, finishing the final round at 2-over.

SWEDE SOLID IN HER DIVISION I DEBUT: Cal State Fullerton freshman Martina Edberg, a native of Glumslov, Sweden, was solid in her collegiate debut for the Titans in Minnesota, rebounding from a first-round 80 to finish with consecutive rounds of 76 to post a top-25 finish (T-23rd) with a 16-over-par 232.

ANOTHER TOP-10 FOR TISHA: Abrea's tie for eighth in Minnesota marked her 10th career top-10 finish (which also includes three career top-five finishes) and her second-straight after finishing in a tie for 10th at last year's Big West Conference Championships to close out last season. The finish gave Abrea, a two-time All-Big West selection, a share of the school record along with Taylor Fowler (2009-13), who also recorded 10, top-10 finishes in her Fullerton career, including four in the top five. Abrea's 14 career top-20 finishes are just two back of Fowler's career mark of 16.

I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER: The summer of 2013 proved to be a bountiful one for four Titans, who excelled on the course to stay sharp for the 2013-14 campaign. Junior Seri Lee was the runner-up at the CPT State Farm Collegiate Open with a 1-under-par 215, finishing the tournament as only one of two golfers under par behind Columbia's Michelle Piyapattra, who won the event with a 6-under-par, 210. Fellow junior Tisha Alyn Abrea also posted a runner-up finish, ending in a tie for second at the 92nd annual Los Angeles City Women's Championship with a 4-over-par 146, just one shot back of the tournament champion. Junior Makayla Mier qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship, finishing in a tie for 101st (+14) and missing out on the top 64 that advanced to match play. Finally, freshman newcomer Martina Edberg -- the first international Titan since the program was reinstated in 2009-10 -- spent the summer as a member of the Swedish National Team, helping her country to the title at the European Championships.

A QUICK LOOK AT THE TITANS: Fullerton returns five golfers for the 2013-14 campaign, including its top-three scorers from a season ago in juniors Tisha Alyn Abrea, Seri Lee, and Makayla Mier. The Titans are looking to build off a fifth-place finish at last season's Big West Conference Championships after a regular season that saw them finish among the top four teams in six of their eight events.
