FRESNO, Calif. -- The Cal State Fullerton women's golf team saved its best for last on Tuesday morning, shooting its best round of the tournament and jumping two spots into a tie for 10th place to close out the 2013 Fresno State Lexus Classic at the Copper River Country Club.

The Titans were 10 shots better than their second round score that had them in 12th after 36 holes, shooting a 304 on Tuesday morning to match Sacramento State, but finishing 32 shots back of tournament champion Long Beach State, which edged day one leader, Tulsa, by a single stroke.

Sophomore Tisha Alyn Abrea, who was tied for 10th after the first two rounds, shot a final round 75 to slip into a tie for 12th with a 9-over-par 225, finishing 14 shots off the pace of individual champion Simone Hoey of Long Beach State, who was 5-under (211) for the tournament to win going away.

Senior Deidre Crabtree was the next-highest Fullerton finisher with a 16-over-par 232 to finish in a tie for 41st. Sophomore Seri Lee (+19, 235) jumped three spots after day one into a tie for 53rd while senior Neomi Hunt was 57th at 20-over (236). Senior Nicole Rivera rounded out the group at 25-over-par (241) to finish in a tie for 66th.

The tie for 10th was the Titans' lowest finish of the season and the team's lowest since it finished 10th at the Circling Raven Invitational in Worley, Idaho, on Sept. 12-13, 2011. It is only the second time in eight tournaments this season that Fullerton has not finished in the top four.

With the regular season now complete, Cal State Fullerton readies itself for the 2013 Big West Conference Championships to be held on April 21-23 at the San Luis Obispo Country Club in San Luis Obispo, Calif. After a pair of seventh-place finishes in their first two seasons after being reinstated, the Titans posted their best-ever finish at the conference championships in 2012, ending third on the same course last season.
