Women's Golf Rallies to Finish Fourth After Day One in Utah

ST. GEORGE, Utah -- Cal State Fullerton sophomore Tisha Alyn Abrea shot a second-round 71 to help her to a share of sixth place and the Titans shot the third-best second round of the day to finish in fourth after 36 holes at the 27th annual BYU at Entrada Classic at the Snow Canyon Country Club in St. George, Utah, on Monday.

Abrea, who was 6-over and in a tie for 27th at the end of the first round, rebounded in a big way over the second 18, sinking birdies in three of her final five holes to finish as the only Fullerton golfer with a subpar round on Monday. She is seven shots off the leader, Kimberly Dinh of Wisconsin at 2-under, and two shots out of the top five heading into the final round.

The Titans, meanwhile, finished with a second-round 298 -- one of only three schools to break 300 in the round -- to make up 12 shots after their first-round 310. Fullerton, with a two-day total of 608, is one shot back of host BYU, eight behind second-place Minnesota (600), and 19 shots off the pace of day one leader No. 44 Wisconsin (589).

Sophomore Seri Lee, who was also in a tie for 27th with Abrea after round one, shot a 1-over-par 73 in round two to move into a tie for 12th after 36 holes at 7-over-par (151). Senior Deidre Crabtree, competing as an individual, also posted a top-25 finish after day one at 11-over-par (155), joined by senior teammate Neomi Hunt and sophomore Makayla Mier, who birdied three of her first four holes in Monday's first round to get out of the gate quickly before ending up with a 76.

Senior Kristen Aiu is in a tie for 42nd after carding a 14-over-par 158 through the first two rounds.

Play wraps up with a shotgun start on Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m., with live scoring available at http://www.golfstatresults.com//public/index.cfm?tournament_id=3731.
