Titans Fifth After Day One in North Carolina

BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- Cal State Fullerton sophomore Seri Lee shot a 5-over-par 149 to finish in a three-way tie for sixth and while senior Taylor Fowler also finished in the top 20 on Monday, helping the Titans to a fifth-place finish after 36 holes at the 18th Annual Fighting Camel Fall Classic hosted by Campbell University at the Keith Hills Country Club in Buies Creek, N.C.

Host Campbell, which has won its own event 13 times, leads all teams after day one with a 16-over-par 592, two shots ahead of Old Dominion and 29 shots ahead of the Titans. The Camels' Kaylin Yost leads the tournament with a 2-under-par 142 -- a 36-hole tournament record -- after shooting a second-round 69 on Monday as Campbell placed six players among the top 20 individuals.

Lee shot 74-75 in the first two round to pace the Titans, who improved three shots from the first to the second rounds as a team. Fowler was the only other Fullerton golfer to finish both rounds in the 70's, shooting a pair of 77's to finish at 10-over-par (154) and in a tie for 17th.

Senior Deidre Crabtree, sophomore Tisha Alyn Abrea, and senior Neomi Hunt all improved after shooting in the 80's in their respective first rounds, with Crabtree shooting the best of the trio with a second-round 78 to finish with a 14-over-par 158 and a tie for 28th.

Abrea is in a tie for 38th at 17-over-par (161) while Hunt is in a tie for 43rd with an 18-over-par 162. 

Tuesday's final round begins with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. local time.
