CAREER NOTES: Her 266 career assists rank just
outside of the school's career list as she needs just 29 more to
move into a tie for 10th place all time... she would be the first
player since Andrea Thieme (also the career record-holder with 462)
ended her four-year career in 1999 to move onto that list...
Taylor's 116 career steals also rank just short of the top 10 list,
needing just 22 more to also move into the top 10.
REDSHIRT JUNIOR (2005-06): Appeared in all 28
games for the Titans, making 24 starts... averaged 5.0 points and
2.3 rebounds per game... co-led the team (India McDaniel) with 79
assists... ranked tied for seventh in the league in assists and
ninth in assists per game... ranked second on the team with 2.82
assists per game... ranked second on the team with 39 steals (1.39
spg)... shot .345 from the field and .722 from the free throw
line... scored in double digits four times - including a
season-high 12 points in a road win at UC Riverside (Feb. 9)...
also had 10 points three times against Army (Nov. 26), UC Davis
(Jan. 28), and UC Irvine (Feb. 2)... tallied a season-high eight
rebounds at home against UC Santa Barbara (Feb. 23)... dished out a
season-high nine assists at UC Davis (Mar. 2)... had five or more
assists in a game five times... led the team in assists in five
games... tallied a season-high four steals in three different games
against Northern Colorado (Nov. 20), San Diego (Dec. 1), and UC
Riverside (Jan. 14).
REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE (2004-05): Started all 28
games at point guard for the Titans... averaged 5.1 ppg and 2.3 rpg
while dishing out 4.07 apg... tallied only the third triple-double
in the history of Titan women's basketball with 10 points, 10
rebounds, and 15 assists in an overtime loss against Cal State
Northridge on Dec. 28... the 15 assists set a school single-game
record and were the most since Michelle Hennessey's previous school
record of 13 set on Nov. 23, 1990 - also against Cal State
Northridge... the 10 rebounds were also a career-high as were the
50 minutes played in that game against the Matadors... the 114
assists were the most by a Titan since Andrea Thieme's 134 assists
in 1996-97 and 12 short of breaking into the single-season top
10... scored in double figures five times, including a career-high
17 points and seven field goals made against Northern Arizona (Dec.
3)... also had 13 points in 34 minutes in a victory over East
Carolina (Nov. 27)... had an assist in every game but one... ranked
third on the team with 33 steals, including a career-high five
steals against NAU.
SOPHOMORE (2003-04): Missed all but three games
after recovering from off-season knee surgery... scored five total
points against Fresno State, Cal State Northridge, and Pacific
before sitting out the remainder of the year... had three rebounds
and four steals against the Matadors (Jan. 3) in 29 minutes...
granted a medical hardship waiver by the NCAA.
FRESHMAN (2002-03): Appeared in 23 of the
Titans 28 games, making 20 starts... averaged 5.1 ppg and 1.5
rpg... led the team with 70 assists and 36 steals... averaged 3.00
apg in conference games (10th in the league)... ranked sixth in the
Big West Conference with 1.81 spg in league games and 10th in the
conference in assist-to-turnover ratio (0.65)... had five games of
five-or-more assists, including a season-high eight against Long
Beach State (2/6)... also had a pair of six-assist games against UC
Irvine (Jan. 17) at home and UC Santa Barbara (March 10) at the Big
West Tournament... notched a season-high 16 points on 6-of-11
shooting at home against Pacific (Feb. 27)... scored in
double-digits three times including 11-point games at home against
Cal Poly (Jan. 2) and on the road against Cal State Northridge
(Jan. 30).
LYNWOOD HS
Played four years of varsity basketball under Head Coach Ellis
Barfield for the Knights - who were the top-ranked team in the
nation according to USA Today with a 33-0 record... a four-time
all-academic team honoree, Taylor was team captain for her junior
and senior years while also being nominated for All-America honors
as a senior... earned all-league second-team honors as a junior...
helped lead her team to the CIF Division I-AAA title in
2001-02.
PERSONAL
Born on May 24, 1984, in Gardena, Calif... parents are Wendell
and Debbie... majoring in business at Cal State Fullerton with an
emphasis in entertainment tourism and management... also considered
attending San Diego State and Cal State Northridge... chose Cal
State Fullerton because, "the players on the team seemed down to
earth and it's not too close or too far from home."
