FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton women's basketball fell to Cal Poly 54-48 at Mott Athletics Center on Saturday. The Titans are 11-14 and 6-10 in Big West play.

A strong Cal Poly defense made it challenging for Fullerton to find easy shots in the first quarter of play. The Titans offense started the game 0-4 from the field before Una Jovanovic tied the game 2-2 with a jump shot.

Jovanovic made the first buckets for the Titans, igniting the team's momentum. She ended the game leading all Fullerton scorers with 12 points on 6-of-17 shooting. Jovanovic also led the team with four assists.

Titans took their first lead of the game with 7 minutes left in the half off a underhand layup from Gabi Vidmar. Vidmar had the only two steals for the Titans and contributed five points on 2-of-4 shooting.

The offense went on a 9-0 run, their largest of the game, connecting key layups, jump shots, and three pointers.

Ruby MacDonald was 2-for-2 from outside the yard, scoring her fourth three-pointer this week. MacDonald tied a career-high 31 minutes played, shooting 2-for-5 from the field.

Ashlee Lewis spent the most time at the free-throw line in the fourth quarter, keeping the game within points for the Titans to retake the lead. Lewis went 4-for-4 at the free-throw line in the final quarter, with 5-of-6 shooting at the line overall.

A late bucket and foul allowed Cal Poly to steal the lead from the Titans, making it a 52-48 game with less than 10 seconds to spare. A determined Mustang defense successfully stopped the Titans from stealing a win on Cal Poly's senior night.

This loss puts the Titans in seventh place in Big West play, with four games left in the season.

The Titans will return home for their Pink Game against UC Santa Barbara on Monday at 7 p.m.
