Women's Basketball Drops Home Game to Hawai'i

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton women's basketball fell to Hawai'i 60-54 Saturday night at Titan Gym. With this loss, the Titans are 10-13 and 5-9 in conference play.

Trailing 33-26 at the break, the Titans struggled to fight and secure a comeback win in the second half.

Ashlee Lewis came up big for the Titans in the final quarter, leading the offensive production with six points on 3-of-4 shooting. Lewis also led the team with 12 rebounds against the Rainbow Wahine, eight of which came in the second half.

The Titans climbed their way back to even the score four times during the first half of play but headed to the locker room down 33-26 at the break. A free throw by Una Jovanovic gave the Titans their only lead (21-20) of the first half.

Aixchel Hernandez scored 14 points for the Titans on 6-of-10 shooting. Hernandez tied the game for the second time for the Titans with a layup assisted by Fujika Nimmo.

Nimmo started the scoring off for the Titans with a jump shot after falling behind 8-0 at the start of the game. Nimmo led all scorers with 15 points on 5-of-16 shooting. She also was one free-throw short of 100 percent accuracy, making 5-of-6 buckets from the line.

Nimmo, who scored her 1,000 career point against UC Riverside on Jan. 5, was gifted a commemorative ball before the game on behalf of the women's basketball program and Titans Athletics.

The Titans return to action on Wednesday as they face UC San Diego at 7:00 p.m. in Titan Gym.
