FULLERTON, Calif.  – Cal State Fullerton women's basketball fell to Hawai'i, 46-55, Thursday night at Titan Gym. The Titans are now 8-13 and 3-8 in Big West play.

Lily Wahinekapu and Carolyn Gill led Fullerton on the offensive with 12 points each. Gill went 4-of-6 from the field with seven rebounds, two steals and three blocks. Wahinekapu was 4-of-17 with seven rebounds and five assists. Fujika Nimmo added 10 points off the bench on 4-of-9 shooting.

The Titans had a discrepancy to battle at the free-throw line as Hawai'i had 29 free throw attempts to Fullerton's 14. Hawai'i was called for 15 fouls in the game while the Titans were called for 25.

After falling behind early, the Titans went on a 10-4 run at the end of the first quarter and into the second to take a 19-13 lead. Fullerton went into the locker room at halftime with a one point lead, 24-23.

Fullerton did a great job on the defensive end in the first half, limiting Amy Atwell to just two points on 0-of-4 shooting from the field. Atwell came into the game leading the Big West in points per game with 18.2.

The Titans got back-to-back fastbreak layups early in the second half to extend their lead 30-25. On both occasions Wahinekapu got the ball on the defensive side of the end and looked ahead to find Gill wide open for the easy finish.

Wahinekapu made a highlight reel play in the second half, crossing over the Hawai'i defender to find Ashlee Lewis wide open for an easy layup.

Hawai'i started to pull away late in the game as Atwell started to heat up. Atwell finished with a game-high 18 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the field while adding five rebounds, four steals and four blocks.

After playing four games in eight days, the Titans get a week to recover before hosting UC Santa Barbara Thursday, Feb. 17 at Titan Gym.
