FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton women's basketball defeated San Francisco by a final score of 62-53 Tuesday night at Titan Gym.

With the win the Titans improve to 5-3 on the year. It is the best eight-game start to the season since the 1996-97 season.

Ashlee Lewis dominated the game, scoring a career-high 29 points on an impressive 13-of-19 shooting from the floor while adding six boards. Lewis was clutch down the stretch for the Titans, scoring 17 points in the second half.

The Titans and Dons battled back and forth early on in the game until Fullerton went on an 11-2 run to build a 10-point lead. San Francisco's last lead of the game came at the 7:10 mark in the first quarter with the score at 4-5.

Fujika Nimmo was a great one-two punch with Lewis to help keep the defense honest and not allow San Francisco to double Lewis down low. Nimmo scored a season-high 18 points on 8-of-17 shooting.

The Titans maintained their double-digit lead for much of the second half. Whenever San Francisco would seem to fight back to get into the game the Titans consistently had an answer to keep their lead around 10 points.

Gabi Vidmar hit two big threes in the second half to keep the Titans momentum going including one near the end of the third quarter to extend the lead to 12 points heading into the fourth.

San Francisco was making a late push to get back in the game when Nimmo grabbed an offensive board and finished through contact to give Fullerton an 11-point lead with just under two minutes remaining to seal the game.

The Titans look to carry their momentum into its road contest against Utah Friday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. PT.
