FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton women's basketball came back from down double-digits in the second half to defeat Grand Canyon 60-53 Saturday afternoon at Titan Gym.

With the win the Titans improve to 4-3 on the year and hand Grand Canyon just its second loss of the season who fall to 5-2.

The Titans came out of the gates slow as Grand Canyon started the game on a 10-0 run. However, Fullerton settled down and got back into the game with an 11-2 run of its own before the end of the quarter.

Fullerton trailed by 10 at halftime but came out of the locker room energized and focused to quickly make it a five-point deficit just three minutes into the third quarter.

After trailing for the entirety of the game, the Titans were able to tie it up with just over a minute remaining in the third on a three-point bucket by Carolyn Gill. Gill had 14 points in the game, scoring all of them in the second half including 10 in the third.

Fullerton took its first lead of the game with 56 seconds left in the third on a free throw by Lily Wahinekapu. Aixchel Hernandez had a great put-back to beat the buzzer in the third to give the team all the momentum heading into the fourth quarter.

Wahinekapu had a game-high 18 points to go along with five rebounds, two assists and five steals. Wahinekapu shot 2-of-4 from behind the arc and 8-of-10 at the free throw line. Fujika Nimmo added 13 points on an efficient 5-of-7 shooting from the floor.

The Titans are back in action Tuesday at Titan Gym as they host San Francisco. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. PT.
