Women's Basketball Falls at Home to Virginia

FULLERTON, Calif. -  The Cal State Fullerton women's basketball team fell to the University of Virginia 60-48 at Titan Gym on Tuesday night. 

The Titans move to 2-3 on the season while the Cavaliers picked up their first win of the season.

The Titans were able to hang with the Cavaliers for most of the night with the Cavaliers outscoring the Titans by single digits in three of the four quarters. Both sides scored 16 points each in the 4th quarter. 

Lily Wahinekapu led the Titans in scoring with 13 points along with five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Amadine Toi led the Cavaliers offense with 20 points.

Virginia held onto a 6-point lead at the half at 33-27. The Cavaliers doubled their advantage in the third quarter at 44-32 after holding the Titans to just five points in the quarter.

The Titans made a game of it to start the 4th quarter after the Titans went on a 9-2 run to start the period on a burst of scoring from Wahinekapu and Ashlee Lewis. The Titans were able to cut the lead to five points at 46-41. However, back-to-back three pointers from the Cavaliers gave Virginia a double-digit lead and the Titans were not able to claw back into the game.

The Titans return to action on Saturday, November 27th at Pepperdine. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
