Allen Promoted to WBB Associate Head Coach

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton head women's basketball coach Jeff Harada announced that Charel Allen has been promoted from assistant coach to associate head coach.

"I am very pleased to announce the well-deserved promotion of Charel to Associate Head Coach.  She has been an integral part of our staff and program from day one and has remained dedicated and loyal in the continued pursuit of our goals.  She understands what it really means to be an Assistant Coach and has proven herself to be someone I can trust and count on.  Her growth over the last four years has been evident as she has taken on more responsibilities, but it's the passion and professionalism she has for helping and developing our players both on and off the court that makes her the special coach and person she is."

Allen concluded a nine-year professional playing career that included stops in Turkey, Bulgaria and Israel before she joined the Cal State Fullerton women's basketball coaching staff for the 2017-18 season as an assistant.

A 2008 graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a bachelor's degree in sociology and computer applications, Allen served as the team's captain in her final two seasons (2007 & 2008), and was also a Big East Conference First Team selection both of those years. She was an Associated Press All-American honorable mention in 2008 as well as a Women's Basketball Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-American in 2007 and 2008. She was the first player at Notre Dame to reach 1,500 points, 500 rebounds, 200 steals and 200 assists.
