WBB Defeats UCR, Advances in Big West Tournament

LAS VEGAS - Cal State Fullerton women's basketball, the No. 9 seed, defeated the No. 8 seed UC Riverside Highlanders on Tuesday afternoon at the Michelob Ultra Arena by a score of 55-51. Senior forward Joy Krupa tied career highs in points (16) and rebounds (15) to lead the Titans. Fullerton will face No. 1 seed UC Davis on Wednesday at 11 a.m. PT on ESPN3.

Despite 28 turnovers, the Titans (4-17 overall) managed to hang around all game. The deficit was just three heading into the fourth quarter when Fullerton rattled off a quick six points to take the lead and they did not relinquish it in that quarter. Turnovers were an issue but the team shot well as it went 22-48 (43%) from the field, 6-14 (63%) from three and 5-8 at the free-throw line. 

Krupa played all 40 minutes on her way to a career night, tallying 16 points, 15 rebounds, four assists and three steals. Kathryn Neff scored 10 points and also got four rebounds while Gabi Vidmar tallied 13 points as the other two scorers in double figures. Anniken Frey scored eight points along with one rebound and four assists.
