WBB Loses at UC Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton women's basketball fell to the Anteaters of UC Irvine on Friday evening in the Bren Events Center by a score of 71-58. Sophomore guard Anniken Frey tallied 12 points to lead the team in scoring. Game two of the series tips at 4 p.m. PT on Saturday.

Although UC Irvine (10-6, 8-2 Big West) led for 31 minutes on Friday, the Titans (2-15, 1-12)  held a 47-40 lead with 1:02 left in the third. However, the Anteaters responded with a big run and led 60-49 with 5:48 left in the game. Fullerton cut it to six with 3:33 left but that was the closest it would get. 

Frey was the team's top scorer with 12 points to go with a team-high six assists. Freshman guard Gabi Vidmar logged a game-high 38 minutes and scored 10 points and added three rebounds. Senior forward Joy Krupa posted six points, 11 rebounds, two assists and three steals. Senior forward Carolyn Gill contributed points, 10 rebounds, five assists and one steal.

The Titans shot 39.6% (21-53) from the field, 30.4% (7-23) from distance and 64.3% (9-14) beyond the arc.
