WBB Falls in Overtime to Cal Poly

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton women's basketball fell to Cal Poly by a score of 70-65 in overtime on Friday. Senior forward Carolyn Gill scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Titans. Game two of the series tips at 4 p.m. PT on Saturday.

Cal Poly (9-6, 5-4 Big West) opened up the game with a 13-0 run but Fullerton (1-14, 0-11 Big West) battled all the way back and won each of the second, third and fourth quarters to send the game to overtime. The Mustangs had a chance to win at the end of regulation but Abbey Ellis' floater rimmed out. But, they took care of business in overtime and outscored the Titans 14-9. Fullerton had 23 turnovers that led to 17 points for Cal Poly. The Mustangs also won the rebounding battled 43-28 that led to 18 second-chance points.

Gill tallied 21 points with 8 rebounds, four assists and five steals in 42 minutes. Sophomore guard Anniken Frey scored 14 points while freshman guard Gabi Vidmar scored 11 points. Freshman guard Bell Stratford had a team-high +10 in the plus minus category. She pitched in seven points off the bench.
