WBB Falls 57-56 to CSUB

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton women's basketball lost 57-56 to the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners on Saturday night. There were 10 lead changes and nine ties in the game that ultimately came down to the buzzer. Freshman Gabi Vidmar had career-highs in points (20), rebounds (7) and blocks (2).

The Titans (1-11, 0-8 Big West) led the Roadrunners (6-6, 4-4 Big West) 48-43 with 6:38 left in the game but the Roadrunners made the plays down the stretch to secure the win. Fullerton committed 20 turnovers including four in the last six minutes, which led to 18 CSUB points. Fullerton shot the ball well from distance at 50% (9-18) but struggled overall at just 38.3% (18-47) from the floor and 68.8% (11-16) at the line. The Roadrunners shot poorly as well, going just 21-53 (39.6%) from the field, 2-9 (22.2%) from distance and 13-21 (61.9%) at the line. CSUB did record 30 points in the paint.

Vidmar broke out of a shooting slump in a big way with her career night. She shot 6-10 from the field, 4-7 from three and 4-4 at the line. Vidmar was also a team-high +10 in the +/- category. She was the only Titan to score in double figures but senior forward Joy Krupa had nine points, eight rebounds, five assists, one steal and two blocks. Sophomore guard Anniken Frey tallied nine points, one rebound and five assists.

Next weekend, the squad is set to play at UC Riverside on Friday and Saturday at 4 p.m. PT.
