Second Quarter Costs WBB Against UCSB

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton women's basketball lost to UC Santa Barbara on Saturday by a score of 79-60. The Gauchos won the second quarter 25-8 to pull away and secure the game. Junior forward Amiee Book led the Titans scoring with 19 points.

UC Santa Barbara (2-6, 2-2 BWC) trailed 14-13 after the first quarter but opened up the second quarter on a 19-0 run and ultimately won the quarter 25-8. The Gauchos led for 31:45 while the Titans (0-5, 0-2 BWC) held the lead for just 3:30. The Titans won both the first and fourth quarters but ultimately the second was the decider. Four Gauchos scored in double figures, led by Danae Miller who scored a game-high 20 points with six rebounds and assists with zero turnovers.

For the Titans, Book scored 19 points on 6-15 FGA and 4-9 3FGA. She also tallied six rebounds, two assists and two steals. Sophomore guard Anniken Frey pitched in nine points, two rebounds and two steals. Senion forward Carolyn Gill recorded eight points, eight rebounds, two assists and one block.

Next up, the Titans head to Long Beach State for games on Friday and Saturday. Both are set to start at 4 p.m. PT.
