WBB Drops Season Opener at UCLA

WESTWOOD, Calif. –  The Titans (0-1) dropped Friday's season opener at UCLA (1-0) on Friday evening by a score of 98-49. Junior Amiee Book scored a team-high 20 points inlcuding four three-point field goals made.

The Titans struck first thanks to junior Clarissa Rodarte's bucket at the 9:23 mark of the first quarter. The Titans knocked down each of their first four shots to take a 9-4 lead at the 7:22 in the first quarter. UCLA then went on a 19-0 run and did not relinquish the lead. The Bruins led 46-24 at halftime and continued to control the game in the half.

UCLA scored 44 points off of 25 Fullerton turnovers and went 22-32 from the free-throw line while the Titans scored just five points off seven UCLA turnovers and shot 10-14 at the line.

Book buried three of her four three-pointers in the second quarter on her way to 20 points, marking her seventh-career game scoring 20+ points and dating back to last season, her fourth straight game scoring in double figures. Senior forward Joy Krupa led the team in rebounds with seven while also contributing five points, three assists and two steals. Sophomore guard Anniken Frey dished out a career-high four assists to go with two points. Freshman guard Gabi Vidmar played well in her collegiate debut with five points, two rebounds and two assists. Fellow freshman Ashlee Lewis pitched in eight points and six rebounds off the bench. 

Next up, the squad is set to host UNLV on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. PT in Titan Gym. The game will be streamed live on BigWest.TV.
