WBB Opens Big West Tournament Against CSUN, Fans Unable to Attend

BIG WEST TOURNAMENT GAME NOTES (PDF)

 

FULLERTON, Calif. – After securing their first winning season since 1990-91, the Titans (16-13, 8-8 BWC) are looking to go the distance in the Big West Women's Basketball Tournament this week.  The first round and quarterfinals will be held at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach.  The semifinals and championship will take place at the Honda Center in Anaheim.  All games will be shown on ESPN3. Per the Big West, spectators will not be allowed to attend the event. The #6 seeded Titans will take on #7 seed CSUN in the opening round of the tournament on Tuesday, March 10 at 8:30 p.m. in the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach.  Fullerton lost to CSUN in both of their regular season contests:  57-63 at CSUN on January 16, and 50-57 at Fullerton on February 22.

The Titan starting five are led by Big West Player of the Year, Raina Perez, who is first in the Big West in points per game with a 20.3 average.  Guard Taylor Turney is averaging 14.3 points per game, 5.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists.  Forward Amiee Book is averaging 12.3 points and 5.5 boards.  Junior forward Carolyn Gill is averaging 6.6 rebounds per game to go with her 8.1 points.  And center Madison Freemon is posting 4.6 points and 4.1 boards per night.

Junior Raina Perez has scored 966 points as a Titan.  She is just 34 points shy of joining CSUF's 1,000 Point Club.

Cal State Fullerton leads the Big West Conference (All Games) in scoring offense (67.69 points per game) and field goal percentage (.428).  The Titans are second in free throw percentage (.718), assists (14.72) and defensive rebounds (28.03).
