FULLERTON, Calif. –  The Titans battled all night long, even cutting the Matador lead to two points with 2:11 to play, but ultimately CSUN persevered to a 57-50 win on Saturday night in historic Titan Gym.

It was Breast Cancer Awareness night, and the Titans and many of the fans were dressed in pink in honor of the event.

Three-time Big West player of the week Raina Perez led Cal State Fullerton with 18 points and nine rebounds.  Carolyn Gill also finished in double-figure scoring with 10 points and seven boards.  Amiee Book scored nine points, and had a team-high 13 rebounds.  Starter Madison Freemon went 3-4 from the field for six points.  Taylor Turney had an uncharacteristically poor shooting night, but still managed to contribute five rebounds and four assists in the Titan loss.

Fullerton and Northridge struggled from the floor, shooting 31.7% and 38.9% respectively.  This was mainly due to stiff defense by both squads.  CSUN had the advantage in 3-point shooting, knocking down 7-20 (35.0%) compared to 3-16 (18.8%) for the Titans.  Turnovers were even at 13 apiece.

Fullerton's biggest advantage was on the boards, as the Titans outrebounded the Matadors 45-35, with the Titans hauling down 17 offensive rebounds to keep them on CSUN's heels throughout the game.

Cal State Fullerton (14-11, 6-6 BWC) will travel to UC Riverside on Thursday, February 27 for a 5:00 p.m. game that will be broadcast on ESPN3.  On Saturday, February 29, Fullerton will return to historic Titan Gym for a 6:00 p.m. leap year match-up with the Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine.  Two more regular season wins will assure the Titans of their first winning season since 1990-91.
