FULLERTON, Calif. – UC Davis (12-9, 7-1 BWC) will remain atop the Big West standings after defeating Cal State Fullerton (11-9, 3-4 BWC) 61-72 on Thursday night in historic Titan Gym.

In a game where the lead changed hands six times, Fullerton was not able to ultimately break through, being outscored in quarters three and four 27-39.  

Fullerton starters Raina Perez and Taylor Turney scored 15 points apiece, and freshman Anniken Frey came off of the bench to tie her career-high with 11 points on 5-6 shooting.  The Titans were outrebounded 30-38, and the Aggies went to the charity stripe 19 times, compared to only 10 for the Titans.  Both teams were even with 11 turnovers.  Uncharacteristically, the Titans, despite leading the Big West in assists, were only able to dish off 8 on the night.

As part of National Girls and Women in Sports Day, the Cal State Fullerton women's soccer team, volleyball team, cross country team, golf team, track & field team and tennis team were honored during halftime ceremonies.

The Titans will next play UC Riverside on Saturday, February 8 at 5:00 p.m. as the opening game of a doubleheader with the men's team in historic Titan Gym.  The Fullerton men will play UC Davis at 7:30 p.m.  Both games of the doubleheader will be broadcast by ESPN3.
