Women's Basketball Opens Big West Play

FULLERTON, Calif. – Big West Conference play will open this week for the Titans women's basketball team (8-5, 0-0 BWC).  Fullerton will travel to the Thunderdome on Thursday, January 9 to take on UC Santa Barbara (5-8) in a 7:00 p.m. contest.  On Saturday, January 11, the Titans will return home to host arch-rival Long Beach State in a 6:00 p.m. matchup in Titan Gym. 

The Titans finished 2019 on a four-game winning streak after handily defeating Seattle University 81-63 on Sunday, December 29.  Fullerton shot a sizzling 55.0% from the floor, 12-15 (80.0%) from the free throw line, and outrebounded the Redhawks 41-32.  

Cal State Fullerton leads the Big West Conference in scoring offense (71.5 points per game), field goal percentage (.444), free throw percentage (.749), assists (16.0), and rebounding defense, holding their opponents to 36.3 rebounds per game.

The Titans are led by three-time Big West Player of the Week, Raina Perez, who leads the conference, and is number seven in the nation in points per game with a 22.5 average. Additionally, she is in the league top-ten in four other offensive categories, including first in free throw percentage (.868) and third in field goal percentage (.531).

Perez was recently added to the Mid-Major Player of the Year Award mid-season watch list by Her Hoop Stats.

Guard Taylor Turney is averaging 13.4 points per game, which ranks ninth in the conference, and her 4.9 assists ranks third.  Forward Amiee Book is averaging 11.9 points, and Carolyn Gill ranks seventh in the Big West with 6.62 rebounds per game.

Sophomore post player Madison Freemon had perhaps her two best games in a Titan uniform against Air Force and Seattle U, averaging 13 points, 6 boards and 1.5 assists in the two most recent Fullerton victories.

PARKING
CSUF requires a parking permit for all weekday games. Beginning July 1st, parking on campus will be $10 for an All-Day permit Monday through Thursday 7:00 am to 10:00 pm Friday until 5pm.  After 5pm on Friday, Permits are not required, as well as on the weekend.  Park and Pay stalls Monday through Thursday 7:00 am to 10:00 pm (Friday until 5pm) are $4 for 1-hour, $8 for 2-hours. Permits can be purchased in parking lots at the permit machines and accept only major credit cards.
