IRVINE, Calif. – For the third time in this young season Cal State Fullerton redshirt junior guard Raina Perez was named Big West Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Perez, a native of Goodyear, Arizona was a preseason all-conference selection.
In Fullerton's 79-70 victory over Air Force on Saturday, December 21, Perez led all scorers with 31 points on 70% shooting. Perez also hauled down 11 rebounds and notched three steals.
Raina Perez leads the Big West Conference, and is number four in the nation in points per game with a 23.1 average. Additionally, she is fourth in the league with 3.8 assists, and number two in the Big West with an 86.8% free throw percentage.
Perez became just the second Cal State Fullerton women's basketball student-athlete in school history to earn three Player of the Week awards in one season. Former All-American, WNBA player, and Titan Hall of Famer Genia Miller took home six awards in the 1990-91 season.
The Titans (7-5, 0-0 BWC) will return to action on Sunday, December 29 when they host Seattle University in a 2:00 p.m. matchup in Titan Gym.
