WBB Drops Close One at UC Irvine

Irvine, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton women's basketball led by 12 entering the fourth quarter but could not keep the lead and ultimately lost 65-61 to the Anteaters. Four Titans scored in double figures while Carolyn Gill posted career highs in rebounds (18) and blocks (4).

After trailing by five after the first quarter, CSF dominated the second and third quaters, outscoring UCI 41-24 to take a 54-42 lead entering the final frame. The last 10 minutes were not good to the Titans as the Anteaters scored 23 points while allowing just seven to earn the victory. Fullert shot 40% (23-57) from the field, 21.4% (3-14) from distance and 70.6 (12-17) from the free-throw line.

Daeja Smith had a team-high 14 points to go along with four rebounds. Jade Vega and Amiee Book each scored 13 points while Raina Perez pitched in 10. In addition to Gill's 18 rebounds and four blocks she also scored four points but fouled out 2:45 left in the game.

The squad returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 16 at Titan Gym for Women's Empowerment Day where all women are allowed free entrance into the gym for the game.
