New Season Begins on Friday - Meet the Freshmen

FULLERTON, Calif. – A new season begins on Friday at San Diego as the Titans and Toreros open the 2016-17 campaign from Jenny Craig Pavilion with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m.

The 2016-17 Titans look nothing like a season before as fourth-year head coach Daron Park will enter the year with a 10-player roster which includes three returning letterwinners, three returning redshirts and four newcomers.

FullertonTitans.com, in partnership with @WBBTitans, will introduce Titan fans to the 2016-17 roster each day leading up to Friday's season opener.

Today (Sunday), we meet the freshman class.

Mia Gallo | F | RS-Fr. | 5-9 | Millbrae, Calif. | Cathedral Catholic HS
Scored two points, delivered two assists and grabbed one  rebound in 88-49 exhibition victory over Hope International on Nov. 1…walked on to the team at an open tryout in the fall…missed most of her senior season in high school with an ACL tear.
What HC Daron Park says:
I love Mia's story. She came to camp two years ago, and wanted to walk on last season, but she just wasn't ready. She didn't take that as the final no. She spent the year working hard on her game and continuing to improve, and came to walk-on tryouts this year and amazed us all. I am thrilled to add her to the roster and expect her to contribute to this program in so many different ways.

Onyx Henderson | F | Fr. | 5-10 | Atlanta, Ga. | Kell HS
Currently sidelined due to injury…older sister China is a junior on the squad… as a junior was named the region player of the year after averaging 20 points per game helping lead Kell High School to the state championships…versatile enough to play all five positions in high school.
What HC Daron Park says:

We haven't been able to see Onyx much because she is coming back from a knee injury. She has worked incredibly hard to stay in shape and to pick up what we are doing offensively. She is constantly rehabbing and getting her knee stronger. She will have growing pains with the transition to the college level, but what we know about her is that she has got a high motor, she plays hard, she is very good offensively, and once she is healthy and cleared to compete, I expect her to show us that.

Keimeshia Walker | G | Fr. | 5-10 | HS | Atlanta, Ga. | Maynard Jackson HS
Scored 10 points on 5-of-10 shooting off the bench adding three steals, three assists and two rebounds in an 88-49 exhibition victory over Hope International on Nov. 1…averaged 25 points, 6 assists, 5 steals, and 4 rebounds per game en route to CLASS AAA First Team honors and team MVP accolades as a senior.
What HC Daron Park says:
Keimeshia may have the biggest upside on the roster. Right now she is learning how to play at the college level, and learning how different it is. The quicker she navigates those growing pains, the quicker she is going to be able to contribute to the success of this program.
