Titans Prep for Season with Exhibition on Tuesday
FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton women's basketball team will host its closest neighbor, Hope International University, at 7 p.m., Tuesday in the Titans' first and only exhibition of the season at Titan Gym.

Fullerton returns to the floor with just one returning starter from last year, 5-foot-5 sophomore guard, Jade Vega, who averaged 7.6 points per game and led the team in both assists (80/2.67 per game) and steals (38/1.27 per game).

In total, the Titans only return three letterwinners with sophomore guard Lauren Nubla and senior center Dhanyel Johnson back on the floor. Nubla played in 29 games making 14 starts, averaging 3.9 points per game, while Johnson appeared in 26 games averaging 3.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per game shooting 60.0 percent (30-of-50) from the floor.

Fullerton will gain instant experience as three student-athletes with Division I experience return to the floor following redshirt seasons.

Junior guard Iman Lathan joined the program a year ago after transferring from Nevada and sat out the mandated redshirt season. She is joined by Pasadena, Calif., native Jordan Jackson, who played two seasons at Central Florida before transferring and serving her redshirt season in 2015-16 as well.

Redshi rt sophomore Daeja Smith missed last year with an injury, and the 6-foot-3 center is ready to return to the floor after averaging 4.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game as a rookie in 2014-15.

Newomers to the program include walk-on Mia Gallo (Millbrae, Calif./Cathedral Catholic HS), freshman guard Keimeshia Walker (Atlanta, Ga./Maynard Jackson HS), freshman forward Onyx Henderson (Atlanta, Ga./Kell HS) and redshirt junior guard China Henderson (Atlanta, Ga./Georgia Highlands College).

HIU is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Golden State Athletic Conference.

The Royals finished last season 15-12 overall and 7-9 in league play.

Cal State Fullerton will play its season opener on Friday, Nov. 11 at San Diego. USD finished 2015-16 with a record of 25-8 overall to post the second-most wins in program history. The Toreros totaled a 13-5 record in the West Coast Conference and advanced to the third round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament before suffering a loss to Michigan.

Fullerton will host Idaho in the team's home opener on Monday, Nov. 14 at Titan Gym. The Vandals suffered a first-round loss to Baylor in the NCAA Tournament after beating Idaho State, 67-55, in the Big Sky Tournament championship game. The Vandals finished the year with an overall record of 24-10 as well as a 13-5 mark in the Big Sky Conference.
